The Office ReModel

I didn't get to post on Friday and I apologize. I really wanted to, but God had BIGger plans. On Friday, making a GRAND Entrance into the world, our 7th grandchild arrived. What a Beautiful Blessing ....

I was going to post more about our Office ReModel on Friday ... Remember when we started (click here), there was a ton of junk (toys, etc) just all over the place. We finished cleaning it out and hubby had decided to redo the hardwood floors. This project ended up taking some major time and labor, as well. Not an easy task but well worth the outcome.

Here are the BEFORE photos:

The floor was not in very good shape. We also taped all the outlets and heat vent ... Less mess that way. Here's a few more BEFORE:

Getting the sander ready to go ....

Making Progress ...

Stay tuned .... until next time!!

The "Office"

Due to circumstances that are out of our control, we have decided to move my home office/sewing room. Was this a hard decision for me?? Yes and No. Yes, because it is the "corner" office and has the best view besides the master bedroom in the whole house and No, because it is the best interest of others (and that's the Christian way - to do what is best for others).

This room served a multi-purpose room before the project started ... including a play room for the grandkids, exercise room, homeschool supplies and storage, in general.

As you can see by the photos, this project is a huge undertaking ... First, everything was cleared out of the room - toys were put in the downstairs family room (for use at a later date - that's another project!), homeschool supplies were also put in the "new" classroom and of course, there was a lot of miscellaneous (some was thrown out and others was sorted into bins).

After removal of all the items, my husband decided that we should re-do the hardwood floors. It made sense, if you're going to do something ... do it right!

Removal of all the items took a whole day (without a doubt) because I made sure things were sorted and put away so we wouldn't have to undertake that project again ....

Stay tuned ... we have many more photos to come - "during" photos and hopefully soon, some "after" photos too.

New Beginnings ... New Chapter

As the year ends, a new beginning starts .... 2011 was a very tough year for me and my family. Yes, we will still have many "firsts" to go through but I am looking forward to 2012. It seems that this may be the year that my creativity really comes alive.

I am working on a New Chapter which means New Business Plans. Why does life always seem to come full circle??!! God has a way of bringing all the steps together - the good times, the trials, the lessons learned - and using them to what He has planned for each of us.

I've been told that I should write a book and to be honest, I had once thought it might be a good idea. But while I excel in spelling, I'm not very good with grammar and personally, tend to write run-on sentences and exaggerate punctuation (*smiles*). I love being a wife and a mom (and a mamaw too). I also love to design, sew, bake and shop. And if you follow along with me on this new adventure, you'll see how I combine all of the above.

As the year 2011 ended, I was writing and writing and writing in my new pink sparkling journal - glitter and rhinestones are the best accessories and PINK is just FUN ! Today all of those ideas seem to "pull together" and WOW! God has even amazed me with the results. I can't wait to share with all of you - my friends and family - all of these ideas ... but for now, I am doing some "remodeling" - reworking the website design, the business cards, the labels, etc ...

Our Inspirations: Vintage items, chic and trendy fashions and accessories, gift shop goodies, baked "sweet treats" goods, along with our candles and bath/body products. Our New Tagline: Prim 'n Purdy - Timeless Beauty ... Classical Elegance - A whimsical blend of yesterday's treasures and today's trends creatively displayed in an Urban Country Style. "Back to Basics Style with a Cherish your MOMents Attitude" ♥

I hope you are as excited as I am about this new chapter - this New God-given Journey ... chosen just for me!

Baby Shower Favors

I had so much fun designing these candy bar wrappers...they were designed for my oldest daughter's baby shower this weekend.

I used graphics that are "personal use" only, so please don't ask to have these exact ones made for your own use. But if you are interested in baby shower favors, please let me know and I will be happy to work with you.

I did "smear" some of the information - just because this is the internet, not for any other reason.

It has been awhile ...

It has been awhile since my last post and I apologize for that. I was trying to blog daily and after another snowstorm, it was very hard for me to keep up. You see, when my husband goes out to snowplow, I get up with him. I then make coffee, make his lunch, fix his breakfast and get him out the door (this usually takes place around 1 or 2 AM). By the time, I get all of this done, I am WIDE AWAKE and unable to go back to sleep. What does this have to do with blogging? It makes for a very long day and unfortunately, even after a zillion cups of coffee, seems to make me move at a slower pace and I never seem to accomplish all that I set out to do that day.

So on to the blog post for today: Remember when I told you I was looking at some new fabrics? I found some (all photos on this post are courtesy of "Connecting Threads") at Connecting Threads. I just love how these fabrics pull together especially in the following quilt samples.

This quilt is the "Pinwheel Parade" Pattern. I just love how it has a beautiful mix of color, but yet still has that "old fashioned" country feel. Just imagine this quilt laid out in a three-season room, a front porch (if you live someplace that weather would permit it) or even a sitting room. It has so many colors to choose your accent colors from.

The next quilt is the "Lexington Liberty" Quilt Pattern. Again, another beautiful display of colors. These colors would look absolutely beautiful in your colonial country house - imagine this one in your living room or even a bedroom. Just enough color without overdoing it. Simply Beautiful!

These patterns are both made with the "Bed and Breakfast" Fabric Collection. So many inspiring fabric color choices, but yet two different looks - wonderful what you can do with the right fabric choices.

We will be purchasing these fabrics, but not necessarily to make the quilts...stay tuned to see what we decide to sew up for your viewing pleasure.
