In My Garden ....

One of the best things about Country Life is Gardening. I'll be honest and say that I didn't use to like to garden - probably had something to do with being the oldest of six kids and gardening/canning was a way of life :0) ... but now that I'm older, I find my garden-time to be very relaxing.

This year we decided to move our garden. It is now located in the hottest, sunniest spot of our yard. Why did we move it?? Last year, we had lots of tomatoes - ALL GREEN! and nothing else. We didn't get any bell peppers, or cucumbers or zucchini - NOTHING ELSE!

Clearing a spot took some work but I have a wonderful husband who helped with it. He did the rototilling and had some black dirt delivered. The rest was up to me ... which I have decided is a big plus. I love being the one in charge of my garden. It is a pleasure to water it every day - yes, it's been very hot and dry here. And I look forward to seeing what little changes it brings on an almost daily basis.

This year I planted tomatoes - both large and small (salad or cherry) size, green peppers, cucumbers, radishes, zucchini, onions, gourd pumpkins and halloween pumpkins. I also planted a few sunflowers, wanted to plant more, but just ran out of time. And I planted a rose bush - that's a story all by itself :0)

As you can see, my garden seems to be growing and growing. I praise God everyday for the little blessings in my life - the small tomato that seems to grow overnight, the littlest cucumber, watching the pumpkin leaves growing so big or even just another small rose that has bloomed on my rosebush. There are so many wonderful delights - the simple blessings - that God provides for each of us everyday. Visiting my garden helps me realize that even more.

I LOVE to garden -- probably didn't so much as a kid. My tomatoes are growing like crazy but besides flowers, I didn't do much more than tomatoes this year (well, I did basil too) .. just ran out of time :)

Blessings!
Gail
